MEET THE OWNER
Dr. Khalyn J. Solomon
Khalyn J. Solomon, SLPD, CCC-SLP is a pediatric speech-language pathologist and owner of The Speech Exchange. Her clinical experience includes treating patients with language delays/disorders, voice and fluency disorders, articulation disorders, Autism, and intellectual disabilities including Down syndrome. Dr. Solomon is passionate about helping her patients achieve their communication goals; thus, making a positive impact on the lives of themselves and their loved ones.
Dr. Solomon received her B.A. in Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology from North Carolina A&T State University, her M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Florida State University, and her Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology (SLPD) from Northwestern University. She has received numerous awards during her graduate studies, including “Most Outstanding First Year Clinician” and the “College Leadership Award". Dr. Solomon was also honored with the 2020 “Outstanding Alumni Award” from the College of Health and Human Sciences at her alma mater, North Carolina A&T. At Northwestern, Dr. Solomon’s culminating research project focused on “Guiding Speech and Language Assessment Principles for Underserved Pediatric Populations”. Along with The Speech Exchange, Dr. Solomon serves as an adjunct professor at North Carolina A&T and is the Chair of the Communication Sciences & Disorders Alumni Advisory Board. She is also a mentor with the National Black Association for Speech-Language and Hearing’s "Power to Empower" Mentorship Program and a best-selling contributing author of "The Loveliness Project: The Path to My Purpose". Dr. Solomon is also the best-selling author of "My Superhero Aurie", a children’s book that celebrates autism through themes of acceptance, empathy, and self-worth.
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Solomon spent eight years living in Southern California before recently expanding The Speech Exchange to the greater Charlotte, NC community. She enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and discovering new and exciting places throughout Charlotte.
